The Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) is an investigative, campaigning and partnership-building organisation committed to bringing about change that protects the natural world from environmental crime and abuse.
It works globally across three themes: ecosystems and biodiversity; environmental crime and governance; and global climate. Its current campaigns include:
- Protecting endangered and threatened species by exposing the illegal trade in wildlife and advocating for effective policies and greater investment in intelligence-led enforcement.
- Stemming tropical forest loss from illegal logging and conversion to plantations, improving forest governance and community participation.
- Slowing climate change by campaigning for a ban on the use of HFC and HCFC refrigerants, and reducing ozone hole by tackling illegal trade in ozone depleting substances
Support from Synchronicity Earth helped EIA to strengthen its core capacity so it can carry out more investigative and campaign work relating to wildlife crime and achieve greater successes.
We have admired EIA’s work for some time; it has the ability to work under the radar and conduct rigorous investigative and capacity building work in sensitive regions, yet produce hard hitting, targeted reports where needed.
