Synchronicity Earth part-funded a film trailer by Lucy Cooke about one of the world’s most deadly species – the Golden poison frog (Phyllobates terribilis).
As well as being an award-winning film- and documentary-maker, Lucy is a lady with a passion – for amphibians. In common with Synchronicity Earth, she is keen to raise the profile of species that receive little attention, yet are highly threatened.
Capable of shutting down a human’s vital organs via its skin alone, the world’s most toxic animal is itself being poisoned. Gold mines are polluting the golden poison frogs’ habitat, with devastating impacts on people and wildlife.
The trailer was used to attract funding for a feature-length documentary about the environmental impacts of gold-mining in Colombia.
