In much of the decision-making around nature and biodiversity, there are voices missing: Indigenous Peoples and local communities with ancestral knowledge of the natural world, who recognise that human beings are part of nature, not separate from it, as it often seems in governmental, institutional, and corporate decisions.
We recognise that the living world is better represented when Indigenous Peoples and local communities are centred in decisions that affect it.
In collaboration with The Conduit, we welcomed an engaging panel including Danielle Celermajer, Melanie Challenger, Paul Powlesland, and Tom Mustill to discuss the impact of bringing these people into decision-making, and even going one step further… What if nature itself could have a seat at the table?
